| ABSTRACT:
This course reviews pellucid marginal degeneration (PMD), focusing on how to identify the condition and arrive at a differential diagnosis with keratoconus. The author discusses the incidence; clinical signs and symptoms; and ocular effects of the condition, as well as issues relating to contact lens fitting in light of a diagnosis of PMD. The author also presents a discussion of the importance of the use of topographic maps in such cases. A Case Report is presented, along with a treatment plan comprising a detailed outline of fitting with contact lenses in a 23-year-old female contact lens wearer. |
